The 19th edition of Perspectives Film Festival: Breakthroughs in Cinema presents –
UNDER THE HOOD - Automobility in Cinema.
The automobile is one of the most ubiquitous inventions of the modern era. Its emergence, alongside cinema, has transformed modern life and redefined our relationship with time, space and people, paving new ground for cinematic storytelling. Across cultures and genres, movies imbue the automobile with character and meaning; it can be a sanctuary, a prison, a companion, a weapon, or the only place your dad has ever said anything real.
This year, we invite audiences to take a peek under the hood and deconstruct the automobile’s familiar image on screen, moving beyond the automobile as machine to consider how an object carries our ambitions, fears, identities and contradictions, revealing the deep desires that drive us.
